Dog Mt. Frostbite

This is our annual fundraiser for Dog Mt. All the proceeds go towards site insurance & site maintenance (with the the lake staying low this season we may have more maintenance required in the LZ.) We will provide BBQ, condiments, and picnic supplies. We ask that you also bring potluck to spice up the variety! BBQ and Music is Saturday evening about 6PM. If your play an instrument or sing you may join the “Dog Mt. Players” on stage headed up by Gabe. We ask that all pilots join the event even if you don’t want to participate in the spot-landing contest. Awards for the spot-landing contest go to H2, Sing Surface, Double Surface, and PG. 2016 CBCC/NWPC Parachute Deployment and Repack Party

parachuteSaturday, January 30, 2016: Annual CBCC/NWPC Parachute Deployment and Repack Party

When: Saturday, January 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. If it looks like a flyable day, plan to come early to deploy, then go fly with a freshly-packed reserve.

Where: International District Community Center,

719 8th Ave. S, Seattle 98104 (corner of Dearborn and 8th)

Why: Because it's been a while since you've hucked and checked your reserve, and chances are that your reflexes are rusty and your rubber bands are rotten.

Who: Anyone who flies higher than they'd like to fall—club membership not required for participation. If you have a new reserve or a new harness and have never tried to deploy, PLEASE come! Every year somebody discovers a major malfunction with their chute or their harness that could easily have had disastrous results in a real emergency.

How much: $40 if you're a NWPC/CBCC/NCSC/OHGA member, $45 for non-members. Part goes to pay the packing assistants, part to pay for the facility ($415), part to cover miscellaneous event-related expenses, and the rest will go to cover our annual land-use agreement at Saddle Mt., or to help with the USHPA insurance fund. (If you're a biwingual or a tandem pilot with more than one parachute, you get to huck and pack the second one for $20.)

One more thing: If you're not a member of any of the local clubs, you can join NWPC or CBCC (and save the $5 non-member surcharge) or  renew memberships at the clinic.

Free Flight Forever

CALLING ALL PILOTS: the future of free flight in the US is at stake!
This issue affects every hang glider and paraglider pilot flying in the US, and requires all of us to contribute what we can. The insurance landscape has changed dramatically, forcing USHPA to pursue self-insurance. We are launching an unprecedented campaign – Free Flight Forever – in order to create a self-insurance group and protect our sites, schools, and members.

Frostbite at Area 151 this year!

Frostbite at Area 151 this year!
New venue for this year’s Frostbite due to the early rise of Riffe Lake (Dog Patch LZ).  Our usual LZ will be under water, so lucky for us the Auman’s invited us to move the party on over to their place! (Area 151 is located just 13 minutes West of Morton).
They have a small 300’ foot hill and training hill on the property, and their property is also the LZ for Bremmer!  I think this might be one of the best bite’s ever.  (address and directions below)

Same date:  April 18th and 19th.

Please show your support by joining in the fun!

Additional Information:

The campground will start filling up on Friday night, but we have a lot of room on our property whether you have a pup tent or a big ass RV. We are waving our regular $20/day use fee so that all of the proceeds can go to The CBCC. Their fee is $30.00/person for a weekend of camping and dinner and drinks on Saturday night. CBCC will be supplying the meat for the meal and kegs of beer, and everyone is encouraged to bring their best potluck dish. Conrad who owns our favorite local watering hole (The Bucksnort Pub)wants to show his appreciation for all the pilot patronage by bringing his portable bar that will be stocked with some popular mixed drinks. Pilots are welcome to add to this stock with their own favorites if they want a "Pro" mixing for them. Diana and I are considering paying for a band to play on our 30 foot Military Tractor Trailer Stage, like we did for our charity Fly-in that we hosted here last August and would welcome your input on that decision. If we get a positive response on this matter, we will make sure that we allow a slot later in the evening for our always very entertaining pilot musicians. Let us know what you think. The dinner and the party and the music are always a great time, but we should also remember that this is the The Frostbite Festival that raises money for a great cause and allows all of us pilots to get together, share all of our stories and kick off this years great flying season. Hope to see you all here, Dave.
