		<description>CBCC MEETING MINUTES

Saturday, November 16, 2011

The annual CBCC meeting was held at Brian Scott’s house in Kirkland, Washington. Approximately 30 CBCC members, family and friends were in attendance.

The meeting was called to order by outgoing Chairman Tom Lee at around 7:45 p.m.

Members thanked and publicly recognized the contribution of outgoing board members: Tom Lee, Jeff Beeghly, Jazzie and Justin Himes, and C.J. Sturtevant.

The newly elected Board of Directors for 2012 is:

Chairman, Brian Scott

Vice Chairman, Ron Barbera

Treasurer, Tina Jorgensen

Secretary, Vaughn Entwistle

Director at Large, Terry Crippen

Director at Large, Tom Johns

Membership chairman, C.J. Sturtevant

Website Administrator, Aaron Swepston

CBCC By-Law Amendments

RE: meetings: Currently the bylaws (Article II, Section 30b) state: b. Special meetings of the members of this club may be called at any time by means of a written request made by the Club Chairman, Vice-Chairman, or 15% of the members.&quot; Amended 11-11-19, by unanimous vote, to add: &quot;A special meeting may be at a physical location or, when appropriate, may be a &quot;virtual&quot; meeting, with all discussion and voting taking place on the website and/or via email, phone or other appropriate electronic means.&quot;

RE: duties of Membership chairman: Currently Article IV, Section 10 reads: &quot; The Membership Chairman shall keep the membership records; maintain a record of the current members’ names, addresses, phone numbers, USHPA numbers, hang ratings and expiration dates and provide this list to the Chairman, Editor and others who request it; submit a membership list annually to USHPA upon request; provide the Newsletter Editor with a list of new members each month; provide mailing labels to the newsletter editor and others on request (a reasonable fee for labels to be charged for non-club use labels); provide club application forms to local hang-gliding shops, meet personnel and others; collect dues and urge non-members to join and shall perform such other membership services duties as may be incident to the office or delegated by the general membership.&quot; Amended 11-11-19 by unanimous vote: Remove the wording in bold/italics.

A vote was taken to remove obsolete clauses in the existing CBCC by-laws involving expenses for photocopying and mailing a paper newsletter, THE FOLLOWING IS NOT ACCURATE: &quot;to be replaced by an on-line newsletter hosted on the CBCC website.&quot; The vote to go to an online newsletter was taken at the 2002 Annual Meeting.

Aaron Swepston will be the primary newsletter editor, but the club encourages contributions from all members.

CBCC Meetings

Club meetings will in future be held quarterly, with Board of Director (BOD) meetings held in between official club meetings.

New Chairman, Brian Scott, along with the new BOD, will work on establishing new programs and function as the Committee Membership Chairman to maintain club records and oversee issuance of USHPA ratings. (C.J., not Brian, will function as Membership chairman.)

Chairman Scott will also work on renting a hall and establishing a firm date for the annual chute clinic. (C.J. volunteered to continue in the role as chute clinic organizer – if that&#039;s been changed, please let her know ASAP!) The date preferred by the packers present at the meeting was 1/22.

Aaron Swepston will function as Newsletter Editor and Website go-to person. Tina suggested that all BOD members become competent at posting info on the website.

Annual Holiday Party

Once again the Swepstons, Aaron and Kerie, have graciously agreed to offer their house for the annual CBCC Holiday party. A tentative date of January 21st has been put forward. If that date changes, the new date will be announced on the CBCC Yahoo group.

Tiger Mountain

C.J. Sturtevant reported on the ongoing revision of the LZ and parking at Tiger Mountain. The latest plan put forward by the DNR is to add additional parking to the West side of the existing parking lot and to expand the LZ to the East by cutting back the existing tree line. A pdf. of the proposed plan is posted on the some the local paragliding web site.

There are new airspace regs in place that impact Tiger, lowering the ceiling to 5000&#039; at launch. Check current sectionals to learn exact boundaries of the lowered ceiling.

Tiger Keys

The DNR still plans to replace the existing lock and reissue keys. The goal is to reduce to the number of keys to limit the amount traffic on the road to the summit. This however, make take some time, due to state budget cuts. When new keys are finally issued, the number of keys allocated to the hang gliding community will be reduced to around 25. Also, each key will entail an annual fee of $50 to $60 to pay for road maintenance.

Chelan

Our existing sign atop Chelan detailing legal information and safety instructions is badly weathered and needs to be replaced. At some point we will have to produce some replacement signs.

Discussion took place about introducing new formats in an effort to encourage increased attendance at the Chelan XC competition. A new team format has been suggested and the BOD will evaluate our options. CBCC is also looking for someone to volunteer as the meet organizer. Tom Johns is considering taking on the role; Aaron Rinn will assist. Terry Crippen will work w/ someone on scoring. Dates: July 2-7.

Frostbite: April 7-8

Treasurer’s Report

Tina Jorgensen has graciously consented to continue on as CBCC treasurer. All of our site funds are currently in the black with the exception of Baldy Mountain. Members voted to zero out the negative balance for Baldy using money from the general fund.

Port Blakely may not log the top of Dog until January. Larry Jorgensen said that, once they get the equipment up there, the logging process will probably be completed in a single day.

A complete Treasurer’s report will be published on the CBCC website accessible in a secure, members’-only section.

Ralph Senter

Our senior member, Ralph Senter, was also in attendance. Ralph has graciously donated two gliders to the CBCC, a Wills Wing Eurosport and a Wills Wing Super Sport. The gliders will be stored at the Wannabe Ranch and will be made available to visiting pilots.

The business meeting adjourned at roughly 9:30.

Thanks again to new Chairman Brian Scott for taking the reigns, [is that a pun? or did you mean reins?] hosting the meeting and providing delicious food.</description>
