Re: closest hang gliding sites to Seattle
So is Dog the closest site?
any responders? I guess I could use google earth but it just seems easier to get instant feedback from a paid for Hang Glide discussion board...thats why you have the board right?
Anybody?

The CBCC Yahoo Group is where you'll find all the online action.

Tiger Mountain in Issaquah is the closest to Seattle. It's a very popular PG site and has a shuttle. In order of distance, Rampart Ridge, Blanchard, or Dog Mountain would be the next closest sites, and then Chelan, though much further, is big enough to be worth mentioning. Tiger is slightly East of Seattle, Rampart is a little further East (and Chelan much further still), Blanchard is North, and Dog is South. When I think of Seattle-area sites, I think of Tiger and Blanchard. Dog is a bit remote to be classified a "Seattle-site," but it's worth the trip and thus, fairly popular with Seattle-area folk. It's really consistent much of the year and can be quite rewarding. Rampart becomes flyable in the late summer and can be just as rewarding if not more so. (It's hard to pick a favorite.) Rampart is actually fairly close to Seattle, but I have this (possibly false) impression that it's just too fickle to be popular. And of course, people flee from Seattle to Chelan in search of big air, which is in ample supply east of the mountains. I'm not familiar enough with Blanchard or Tiger to make any assesments. Check out our site guide.
Also, if you're available, the Dog Mountain "Frostbite" Fly-In is this weekend and it's well worth checking out. April 5th and 6th, 2008.
Cheers,
Jeff
